Hello everyone, my name is Joe. I am 63 years old, living with my wife Sherry just North of Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston has been our home for the last 45 years, a place that has grown deep into our hearts.

The region offers an embrace of historical charm and stunning beaches – attributes that I’ve come to love deeply. Its warm community reflects the sun-soaked tranquility that surrounds us. I haven’t ever wanted to live any where else.

My interests, like baseball, golf, and NASCAR, are simple. I’ve always rooted for the underdog with a quiet enthusiasm. I’ve dedicated parts of my life to work, starting in industrial management and eventually owning a pet store, meeting many interesting pets and people along the way.

Yet, behind the picturesque life, I’ve navigated a different kind of journey: one of excess, with too many hours, too much stress, and too little attention to health, wife, and chidren. From an energetic lifestyle to prolonged evenings, food and rest fell to the wayside, replaced with indulgences that took a toll on my well-being.

In 2019, that unsustainable path led me to the ER with chest pain. There, a heart catheter discovered blockages severe enough to need a stent. It was a shocking declaration of my body’s limits and the state of my cardiovascular health. Despite the scare, old habits die hard, and the drastic lifestyle changes I needed to consider were left at the wayside.
