  1. I must say, your article on walk-in showers for the elderly really resonated with my current situation – living with a 76 year-old grandmother. You’ve captured the essence of why these features are so crucial for seniors. I can feel your understanding and empathy in every line, especially when you talk about the importance of safety and independence for elderly individuals. Not going too far, this could even be a great idea for me, personally. I have vision impairment, which by law makes me legally blind, and such cautious showers would be great for someone like me as well.

I appreciate how you detail the thoughtful design elements like low-threshold entry, wide doors, and anti-slip flooring. These features aren’t just practical—they’re life-changing for seniors who want to maintain their autonomy. Your emphasis on the psychological benefits, such as boosting self-esteem and providing peace of mind to family members, really highlights the multifaceted value of these showers.

    1. Hello, Ms. Stephanie.Thank you for such a thoughtful comment.

As time goes by, our grandparent may become a little more dependent on others to help with showering. The easier for the caretaker that we make this task. The better the experience will be for our loved one.

The idea of having a more room, a much lower step in and out of the shower, a bench, and handrails will offer my loved one and I a feeling of safety, convenience, and independence. A better experience for all.

I think that these same features would benefit those with a vision impairment, as well. I contacted West Shore Home. And,  I was 100% satisfied with everything that they did. It doesn’t cost anything to talk to them.

    1. Hello S.J,

Thank you for taking the time to comment! I appreciate you input.

The walk in shower will benefit anyone who has a problem stepping in to a bathtub to shower. Some of these showers have a bench, and grab bars. I am recovering from a recent surgery. This walk in shower has been a blessing for my recovery.

A walk in shower with a bench, not only allows a senior to be independent. But, it allows a caretaker a much more efficient space to help with hygiene care.

Be sure that any walk in shower is professionally installed. West Shore Home remodeled 2 bathrooms for me. I highly recommend them, if you need a bathroom remodel. It doesn’t cost anything to talk to them.
